Behind the songs.
Every song begins with a moment, a place, a feeling.
Every song has a beginning. Mine usually begins somewhere in the Scottish Highlands.
Long before the first chord is played or the first lyric is written, there is always a journey. More than one hundred hiking and trekking expeditions across Scotland have shaped not only my photography but also the stories behind every song.
Walking through remote glens, climbing mountain trails and spending nights in bothies taught me something that songwriting never could: sometimes silence tells the greatest stories.
Together with Brian Gentile, these experiences became Scotland – A Love Letter: Fourteen Postcards from the Highlands — an album inspired by real places, real journeys and real memories.
For me, songwriting has never been about writing songs. It has always been about preserving moments.
